Swimming near Gardens

Brilliant morning along the Collaroy-Narrabeen stretch. I wasn’t up for getting smashed in low tide shories, so I went for a swim with my camera instead. Water is beautiful too.

Beautiful Sunday morning

Hello Friends, Swell’s set to fade across the day, but as of 0800 there were shoulder high sets up the beach toward No Mans. Lots of folks in the water from there south to the point. Speaking of which, it looked to be smaller and less consistent than the beachy.  Wind was lightly offshore […]

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast for Sydney issued 9 March 2018 from south of the Border using TG’s patented long range over the horizon binoculars… There should be waves for Sydney but The outlook looks like being determined in large part by what pesky TC Hola out in the Coral Sea does. If he/she does what is currently […]

Waves around but not everywhere

Hello Friends, You have to pick your spot this morning because the 2 metre 10-sec SSE swell isn’t  lighting up every spot. Plus, the light easterly wind is ruffling up the surface. Tide is dropping to a moderate 0.7 m low at 1015 and that means it’ll be getting crunchy in the beachy. Figure […]

Messy but more swell than yesterday

Hello Friends, Wind was SE 8-10 kts from early and the ocean was looking pretty choppy and smashed up but it did seem to be a bit bigger than this time yesterday. The 0500 MHL data was showing 1.6 metres from the SSE at 9 seconds (yesterday was 7 sec). A number of folks […]

Light onshores and choppy seas

Hello Friends, Wind was 10-15kts from the ESE at 0745. It’s set to go around to the S-SE soon and the swell is expected to continue at the present low intensity through the day. At 0500 it was 1.6 m out at sea and coming from the ESE at a weak 7 seconds apart. […]

Do you like wind?

Hello Friends, Another windy start for the day. As we kicked off it was ESE at 15-20 kts under partly cloudy skies. Ocean was not looking very interesting as a consequence, although the swell has come up as predicted and as of 0500 was 2.3 metres out at sea with an 8-sec period and coming […]

SSE wind from early

Hello Friends, At first light the wind was 20-25 kts from the SSE. Skies were overcast and threatening more showers (there’s a 70% chance). Tide was a 0.46 m low at 0620 and is currently headed to a 1.52 m high at 1225. The wind has pushed up wave heights out at sea but […]

Only super keen need apply

Hello Friends, Made a circuit of the options between Northy and Dee Why point and can report that Monday is highly missable – but if you’re absolutely desperate to get wet, there are some ultra dribbly, ankle to knee high things here and there. Actually, you can pretty much paddle out at any random […]

Southerly early and very small

Hello Friends, Not a great looking start surfwise. It’s not totally flat, but it’s very close to it. I’d call it ankle to maybe knee. The MHL buoy data from 0600 was showing only a metre of 7-sec  SSE bump. Wind was coming from the SSW at 10-15 kts as I tapped out these words […]
