Cool and clear morning with little waves

UPDATE 1100 – Sunny day about to go away…

South change heading our way at 1045 – when it was near the airport

Hello Friends,

Smooth conditions for the early session at Dee Why. Waves look to be in the waist high range and there was enough activity to lure a few people from the shories to the point. As of 0500 the MHL buoy was seeing 2.2 metres of 12-sec south swell along with some NE component. The Bureau has a warning up for large and powerful surf, but I’m not seeing anything much on the buoys south of us, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. Tide was high at 0645 and is now dropping to the low at 1320. Wind was offshore and light for the early, but it’s due to go southerly by late morning.
We’re heading to a high of 23C today and while it’s sunny now, the Bureau says once the southerly kicks in, we could see a few showers. Water has dropped to 22C according to Beachwatch which also reports potentially dodgy water at Long Reef, North Curly and Queenscliff.
Surf outlook hasn’t changed much since yesterday. Basically the prospect is for waves in the knee to waist plus range, give or take across the coming week. Winds should generally be light until mid-morning too.
Have a great Monday everyone!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system in the Bight is extending a ridge across New South Wales. The high will drift slowly east during the next few days, maintaining southeast to southwesterly winds over most waters today, shifting northerly in some parts during Tuesday as the high reaches the Tasman Sea. A weak trough looks set to move over the coast mid-week.
