"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Very small to nearly flat early

Hello Friends,

The Bureau has posted a strong wind warning for Saturday and even before the sun had risen, it was blowing a steady 8-10 kts from the west. Out at sea the sub-1 metre wind bump was coming from the SSE (167°) at about 5 seconds apart. So basically there is almost no surf energy in the ocean right now.

We’re heading to another summery 27C high today and while it was largely clear as the day got started, there is a slight possibility of a shower this afternoon.

As the pictures show, conditions along the beaches were exactly what you’d expect given the lack of any real swell. There were people in the water, but I didn’t see anything above the knee high mark. A good day for other activities I’d say.

Outlook according to the swell models is for some longer period south swell to start filling in overnight and if that happens we can expect more energy for tomorrow and into the start of the new week. My hope is that we go from ankle to knee at better exposures to knee to waist plus.

Have a great Saturday and keep your distance!

By Order of the Federal Government, our beaches are open for exercise only – surfing, swimming, running and walking.  Beaches will be closed due to unsafe conditions and or mass gatherings. All pools are closed at this time.

Please see some commonly asked questions about the beach closures.

If people are sunbaking or gathering on the beach, they will be asked to move along by our lifeguards, rangers or the police.

Due to the risk of Coronavirus and acting on direction of NSW and Federal Governments, Council has closed many public areas. View the latest updates on the evolving situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition, it is against the law to gather with more than two people in public, except:

  • for members of the same household
  • where the gathering is essential for work or education
  • If you go out, stay 1.5 metres away from other people at all times.

The rules are also now enforceable and Police are issuing fines of $1000 for individuals and $5000 for companies. These are difficult circumstances and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
