The Goat’s Surf Forecast

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Friday 8 May 2020: Seven day outlook for Sydney:

We’re all itching to get wet, so TG sacrificed his body for you today to test the water.  Air temp 27, water temp 20, 21… Should be ok for swimming without a wettie.. No point taking the board out.. the small waves were jam packed with pint sized kids surfing overheads enjoying themselves. TG said “it’s bb brisk! bracing and other words like that. But I think it was just the temperature contrast, and he’s a sensitive creature.

Nearly saw my first whales of the Up season today … I thought it looked a good day for them to be heading north past here. Checked my app… “2 whales sighted off where I am at 8:58, 8 May”… Checked my watch, 9:03! Searched and searched but could not find them. But I saw two people pointing to a section of the ocean obscured to my view by a cliff.  Pretty close eh?

I’m having a few “nearly’s” lately… like the big fish I hooked a couple of days ago … He ran and stopped, ran and stopped.. I thought it was time to start slowly reeling him in.  But I could not budge him! He weighed a tonne and after half an hour he snapped my line.  But I nearly caught him, eh??

And I nearly thought it might be a good time to head north for warmer water like the whales, but I don’t think official advice is that should just yet…  But it sounds like we could be nearly there…

Just wondering btw… What is a COVID?  The virus that we all don’t want to get cause it can kill you is COVID 19… so when were COVIDs 1 through 18??  I must have missed those memos…

Anywho, remember that spatial distancing includes in the water as well as on land. If we all do that, not just the responsible people, we can all look forward to lots more healthy surfs in the future.

Surf outlook is not too exciting, but who cares if you can still get wet, You might even jag an occasional wave now and then.   Patience is the keyword at the moment.

Saturday:  around 1 metre or so North East

Sunday: starting to come up a little at places that like dead South swell, say 1-1+ metres

Monday:  somewhere in the 1-2 metre range at dead South spots

Tuesday: down a little say around 1 metre or so dead South

Wednesday: about 1 metre or so East

Thursday: smaller from the East

Friday: starting to come up a little from dead South say 1-1+ metres

Have a good one.

And like everyone else now seems to say:

Stay safe Stay well.

I wonder do they all read TG’s surf forecasts??
