Break in the rain and waves too, but the water looks bad

Hello Friends,

Plenty of mid level cloud about as Sunday got started, but no immediate threat of rain and the wind was light. Biggest sets were into the shoulder high range at better exposures this morning and there were reasonable numbers in the water chasing them. It looked as though the lulls were pretty long, but the big problem is water – it looks really sketchy to me. Not surprising considering that in just the last few days we’ve had 100 mm of the wet stuff, so there’s a lot of stormwater run-off. Having known people personally who got very sick from dodgy water, I’m going to sit it out until we’ve had a solid run of sunny weather to cook the pathogens. This morning’s Beachwatch report says pollution is likely from Bungan to Manly.

Swell at sea was coming from the SSE mainly and was 1.7 metres at 13 seconds on the sets. Wind was coming lightly from the WSW, but it’s set to swing east and then NE late. Plus, there’s a 95% chance of more rain. Speaking of rain, the latest week-ahead forecast for Sydney is showing showery weather through to next Saturday. And the wind call is for lots of onshores too, although there could be the odd light wind for the early in the mix. Swell is predicted to be mainly easterly and gradually building into the upper end of the 2-3 metre range by about mid-week.

Go well and stay safe too!
