Grey day with waves

Hello Friends,

Light W-SSW breeze for the early session with more grey skies and a high chance of a shower or two. Swell at sea has come around to the east and was 1.7 metres at 9 seconds as of 0730. We had a deepish 1.8 m high tide at 0715 which is now running out to the 0.3 m low at 1405. Beachwatch says the water looks good most places apart from the lagoon entrances and that the temp is sitting on a balmy 24C.

Sets at better exposures were comfortably in the chest to shoulder plus range, so there should be a fair range of surf options this morning. As the day goes along, the wind will pick up from the eastern quarters and eventually settle to the SE by this afternoon. So, the usual rule applies: get in early.

This morning’s swell models are showing a gradual increase in size with potentially a kick into the 3-4 metre range on Thursday. The wind is set to stay generally onshore from the eastern quarters right through to the weekend. And yep, the weather promises to be showery right through next weekend – at least.

Weather Situation

A ridge of high pressure to the south and a trough near southeastern Queensland are generating showery easterly winds along the New South Wales coast. This trough is forecast to deepen and extend further south over the coming days, bringing strong to gale force winds to the northern waters today which will gradually spread to the southern coast by mid-week. Winds and waves may increase further on Wednesday as a low pressure system develops within the trough somewhere near central or southern parts of the coast.
