Sunny skies and chunky brown waves

Hello Friends,

Wind was west at 12-18 kts as of 0900 and swell at sea was 2.5 metres at 10 seconds from the SE. No one caught a wave while I was taking pictures, but I’d say wave faces on the bigger ones would be in the head plus range. The swell has a raw, chunky look to it still, so maybe a few hours of offshores will tidy it up. It also looked to be pretty consistent, so you won’t be waiting around too long.

Tide was just coming off the low at 0845. We’re in for a sunny day with steady westerlies and a high of 16C. Despite the murky look to the water, Beachwatch is showing Dee Why and most other beaches as being pollution unlikely. Water temp is 19C.

As for the outlook, well, the Mighty Goat dropped his pearls of surf wisdom yesterday afternoon…

Have yourself a great Friday everyone!

Weather Situation

A low pressure system over the Tasman Sea will move closer to New Zealand today, while a high south of the Bight extends a ridge into northern and western New South Wales. A trough will cross the state’s southeast during the weekend, after which the high is forecast to drift across eastern Australia. A cold front looks set to cross from west to east during Tuesday, before another high becomes established in the region.
