Chilly, choppy and southerly

Hello Friends,

Coastal showers, southerly and a brisk 13C at RealSurf HQ as Monday sputtered into life. The ocean has that sideshore, south bump look to it and the 2.5 metre 9-second SSW swell appeared to be pretty much missing the Dee Why end. We’re starting the day with a 1.68 m high tide, so in addition to everything else, it was on the fat and full side for the first session. Despite the rain, Beachwatch says most places are clean and despite the wind, the water temp is still 18C.

The marine forecast tells us that what little swell we have will be fading across the day, but by tomorrow an ENE swell in the 10-second 1+ metre range should take its place. However the wind is set to be easterly (although light early) and skies will remain cloudy. Wednesday morning still looks slightly hopeful with light wind and a bit more size to the east swell – plus it might not be grey to start. Swell should hold through Thursday and into Friday (and likely beyond), but quality will depend on what the wind decides to do.

Go well with your Monday everyone!

Weather Situation

A low pressure system over the Tasman Sea is moving southeast as a high moves into central New South Wales from the west. Winds in southern and central parts will shift northerly on Tuesday as the high progresses to the Tasman Sea, where it is expected to stall for several days. The next trough and cold front are forecast to reach the coast at the end of the week.
