Rainy dribble surf day

Hello Friends,

No surf at Dee Why this morning.

Swell was 1.3 metres  and coming from the E by ENE at 10 seconds as of 0730, so there were messy, weak looking, waist to chest high plusses in the best angled south corners (eg Manly, but not Dee Why). Wind was out of ESE at 10-15 kts and the first tide of the day, a 1.6m high, was about to peak at 0815. It was raining lightly but the forecast tells us to expect 15-45mm across the day.

Outlook is for the swell to build as it heads to a peak intensity in the 3 metre range from the ENE tomorrow. The wind outlook isn’t too bad for Tuesday morning and it’s even better for Wednesday when the swell should still be pushing along but definitely on the fade across the day. The big question is what water quality will be like as the runoff increases. As of this morning, Beachwatch was flagging the lagoon entrances and everywhere from Freshie to the Bower as ‘pollution possible’.

Go well with your Monday one and all, and here’s hoping for tomorrow and Wednesday!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system near New Zealand and a low pressure trough over inland New South Wales are combining to generate fresh north to northeasterly winds along the coast. Meanwhile, a low over the northern waters will move south during today and Tuesday, possibly bringing stronger winds and  hazardous surf conditions.
