"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Clean but much smaller this morning

Hello Friends,

The swell started dropping yesterday afternoon and this morning saw mostly chest to maybe shoulder plus on sets along the beach. Out at sea the swell was 2 metres at 12 seconds from the SSE as of 0740. Wind was WNW 5-7 kts. Surf conditions look pretty reasonable all day as the swell continues to fade but winds stay light. It will cloud over later and there’s a 90% chance of showers later. Tide was low at 0710 and will be back to a moderate 1.2 m high at 1300. We should have a high of 24 along the beaches and water’s still a balmy 22.

The southerly is set to arrive tomorrow morning, but there may be a shot at reasonably smooth, if small, waves at south magnets for the dawn patrol. The cloudy, showery and southerly conditions are going to continue on Friday, but by Saturday we could be back to sunnier skies and light offshores for the morning session.

Go well everyone!

Weather Situation

Surf conditions and fresh south to southwesterly airstream along the coast is easing as a low near New Zealand is weakening and a high pressure ridge across the inland is moving east. The next trough looks set to move across much of the west on Wednesday, then deepens to a low pressure system off the north coast on Thursday, bringing a return of fresh south to southeasterly airstream along the coast before tracking to the Tasman Sea.
