Choppy but the odd wave for the keen

Hello Friends,

Although the forecast says southerly 10-15 knots, the wind was coming lightly from the westerly quarters as Friday dawned. Surface conditions were pretty choppy looking and although the buoy data was showing 1.7 metres of 12-second east swell off Sydney, waves at Dee Why looked to be in the chest-high range on sets. There were folks in the water at the point, but it looks as though you’ll be doing a lot of waiting for the sets. Tide hits a moderate 1.6 m high at 0900 and then runs out to a 0.46 m low at 1500. Of course by then the southerly should be up to speed. The weather call is for a possible shower with partly cloudy conditions and a high of 22 – which is the same as the water temperature.

Wondering about the weekend and week-ahead surf outlook? Well, the Mighty Goat has cast the runes and uttered his surf utterances.

Go well with your Friday everyone!

Weather Situation

A moderate to fresh south to southeasterly airstream will generally prevail along much of the coast during the next few days as a high pressure system over the Bight slowly moves eastwards over Victoria. This airstream will tend more easterly next week as the high makes its way to the Tasman Sea.
