"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Hello Friends,

Back in Sydney in time to enjoy a beautiful Friday morning along the beaches. It’s really a case of ‘there are waves… but…’

Curly was picking up the 1.8 metre, 9-second south swell, but jagging one of the overhead sets meant lucking out with positioning. And given the high tide, the waves had a slowish look to them. Not many people were prepared to battle their way out for a chance in the wave lottery.

Around at Dee Why, the point was barely registering the swell for the most part. But every now and then a big enough set would refract around to deliver a softish waist plus face. The beach was bigger and more consistent, but the weeks of east wind swell haven’t moved the dial on the bank situation. So, there are definitely a few head high plus faces in the mix, but the bigger the set, the greater the likelihood of a long, shutting down wall. You really need to be lucky to get off more than a turn or two.

Yet another totally uncatchable set hoaxing the crew

Longy bombies were at their deceptively attractive best when I checked around 0930. Half a dozen people were sitting out the back and when  set started showing on the outer reefs, you can imagine the excitement. But… I watched 5 or 6 sets come through and no one could even paddle into one. Your best chance at a wave was to hang on the inside for a shorey. Maybe when the tide drops…

Wind will go around north-NE as the tide drops to the low at 1445, so options will be limited to the north corners.

Have a great Friday!

Weather Situation

A ridge extends over New South Wales as a cold front moves east in the Tasman Sea resulting in west to southwesterly winds. In the wake of the front, winds will ease and tend southeast to northeasterly. During the weekend, another stronger cold front will sweep across the state with a low pressure system possibly developing off the far South Coast on Sunday, bringing a strong southerly change and hazardous surf along the coast early next week.
