Surf forecast issued Thursday 4 February 2017: Eight day outlook for Sydney:
Bit of a change from the last couple of days. Very strong southerly wind with ordinary weather making venturing outside for anything on the coast unattractive at the moment…. and not really beach weather expected for the weekend.
Surf will come up as a result of the wind – it already is 4-8 metres offshore – and the Bureau has a Large surf warning for Saturday through Monday….
But…..The swell has a fair bit of South in it right now and there will be S/ish wind with it several days so quality won’t be much chop – or rather there will be a lot of chop ho ho ho – on beaches open to the south. The period isn’t looking outstanding so most of the bigger stuff probably won’t get around into the more sheltered corners…Possibly something maybe later Saturday, and more likely Sunday at places north of points, but again there’s the quality aspect. Tides may make it bigger or smaller too.. Is that helpful??? All in all I can’t get excited about it myself and most likely will be looking for other things to do.
For the surf let’s say:
Friday: about 2 metres South East and windy stuff at South facing beaches
Saturday: around 2, 2+ metres South/South East
Sunday: 2-2 + metres East South East
Monday: upper end of the 1-2 metre range East South East
Tuesday: 1-2 metre range East South East
Wednesday: down in the 1-2 metre range East South East
Thursday, Friday: 1, 1+ metre East
Water temp is a little over 24… warm water along the entire NSW coastline and again there’s that artistic white swash of 28 degree water offshore among the red
