Sunny skies, no waves

Beautiful morning, but there\'s no surf...
Beautiful morning, but there's no surf...

Hello Friends,

Precisely as anticipated, the waves have gone away this morning. There was a little something yesterday afternoon, but when Huey’s nudged the settings down to a metre at 6 seconds from the SE, well, the options are going to be limited surfwise.

From the shape of the forecasts, we can expect much the same tomorrow with a possible increase in size wandering in around Wednesday as the wind settles into a S-SE groove.

Looks like another good day for being at work or school. Rack up a few brownie points now, for a possible increase in size toward Thursday. On that front, the models have been gyrating around pretty wildly over the last few days. The breathless enthusiasm of said models has settled back into a more sober and cautious mode with the latest run. The big fetch zone to the NE of NZ is still showing, but the size predictions for Sydney have come back into the 3-4 metre range from the east. Happily, the period settings are still forecast to be in the 12-13 sec range.

If all goes as this morning’s run of the forecast models suggests that there should be substantial ESE swell starting to fill in up north on Thursday (as in 4-5 metres) with smaller, but longer period stuff arriving in Sydney with a more easterly direction. The spoiler in the mix is the wind forecast which currently anticipates 15-25 kts of SE’ly for Thursday.

Have yourself a top old day!
