Air Brushers Waves for Charity

Air Brushers Make Waves for Children’s Charity

Fifteen of the most outstanding & talented Airbrush artists from all over Australia have been putting their creative talents to the test to create outstanding art on surfboards – all in the aim to raise much needed funds for the Sunrise Children’s Village in Cambodia.

The ‘Air Brushers Charity Spray-Off’ is the first event of its type to ever be held in Australia with artists battling it out for a fantastic prize – a trip to participate in the ‘Air Brush Getaway’ in the United States. This is the highly regarded airbrushing extravaganza – where courses & seminars are held to display new techniques & technologies in the air brushing industry. With the stakes raised – we can be sure the artworks produced will be amazing.

An unveiling night will be held to showcase the amazing talents of the artists & their creations. This will be held on Friday the 24th October, 2008 at the Coogee Bay Hotel, Coogee from 5pm.

Event organiser & Global House of Kolor Sales Manager, Mr Owen Webb believes the air brush artists will step up to the challenge. “These artists are unreal – what they can create is truly amazing. And the fact that this event has them battling for such a great prize, it has really inspired the artists to step-up to an entirely new level. I can’t wait to see the finished boards – unveiling night is going to really wow the punters!”

“The concept of this event is to raise funds for the Sunrise Children’s Village – in a fun way and to help raise the profile of our extremely talented Australian Air Brushers at the same time. We are really proud to be able to contribute to helping out children who have been left orphaned and abandoned.”

The Sunrise Children’s Village is an organisation helping those who need it most in Cambodia – the orphaned children. Their projects include food & housing for abandoned children and providing them with education & skills to contribute back to their local communities for the future. Children come to them in a myriad of ways: parents have been killed or maimed by land-mines, died of hunger or disease and often murdered because of their political affiliations. When these children are rendered homeless, more often than not, they are taken into homes and used as slave-labour in return for food and a place to sleep until their plight is brought to the organisations attention.

Founded by Geraldine Cox, her career started with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs in 1970.  Her first posting was to Phnom Penh, where she experienced life in a country at war when the Vietnam War spilled over into Cambodia. Geraldine’s original experiences in Cambodia never left her and on a return visit in 1993, she became involved in helping an orphaned Cambodian child.  From that small beginning Geraldine founded what is now the Sunrise Children’s Village.
