Beautiful morning

Hello Friends,

1445: still a few sets getting into Northy
1445: still a few sets getting into Northy

An afternoon update for you. I missed out on a morning sesh myself, but it looks like it was pretty good around the place. Mid-afternoon sees the wind around to the NE at 15-20 kts and if the MHL data is to be believed, the swell has gone ’round to the south at 9 seconds. I have to say that it didn’t look south to me at Northy or Long Reef when I checked. Anyway, there didn’t seem to be anything getting into Longy bombies, but there were people jagging chest high sets at Northy. I saw Curly around lunchtime and it seemed to be about the same size, maybe a little bigger. Manly would be getting this as well, but of course the wind will be trashing it.

Here’s this morning’s report…

0645: little set wave rolls into Dee Why beach

What a corker of a morning. A couple metres of east swell at 9-10 sec apart and no wind to speak of. The Bureau says it’ll be WSW this morning and then it’ll swing NE this afternoon and get up into the 18-23 kt range. Although Dee Why’s not the first place I’d look for a wave when the swell’s out of the east, there are definitely a few sets coming in for the surprisingly small crew in the water at the beach and the point.

The trend lines are point at a very slight drop in the swell over the next 24-36 hours. The weather is supposed to stay fine today, although cloud is expected to increase ahead of a showery and windy weekend.

Clearly the plan is to get out for a wave sooner rather than later.

Have a good one!
