Wait for it

Hello Friends,

The wave forecast models got it right where the long period pulse was concerned. From about noon to maybe 8pm yesterday, the Eden buoy was showing 13 sec average period. At about 8pm Batemans Bay passed the 12 sec mark and Sydney was close behind. After briefly peaking at 13 sec in the early morning hours, the average period has dropped back to 11 seconds, and given that Eden is now back to 8 sec, I’d say we’re rapidly heading in the same direction.

Swell at sea is averaging around the 1.5 metre mark from the south.

So, the takeaway? Get out there now because those average power levels are declining fast and the wind’s expected to ramp up steadily as the day goes along. Expect the lulls to get longer and the peak sets to get smaller… but… the average wave height should hang in there at around the waist to chest high mark and maybe even pick up a touch toward dark.

Outlook is for waves again tomorrow, but the long period stuff is expected to have dried up, so I’ll be stoked to see anything above the chest high mark on the bomb sets for Sunday.

Have yourself a great day – and stay warm!
