"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Sunday early risers call

Hello Friends

I’ll be along soon with an update and pics… but here’s where the situation stood late last night…

Swell was coming from the NE at around two metres, but out at sea, the chop was adding another 2 more on top of it. Period was sitting on about 7 seconds. Wind was out of the NNE at 15-20 kts.

Given that the wind is set to blow through the night, I think it’s pretty likely that there will be some sizable wind swell (up to head high on the bombs) at exposed spots. Low tide’s at about 0530 running into a high at midday.

The challenge will be to find some place with enough exposure to the swell but not too open to the wind. The biggest spots could be pretty messy and lumpy and bumpy, whilst the more protected spots will likely be much smaller. So, it should make for some interesting hunting conditions.

Here’s what the Bureau was saying…

Winds: North to northeasterly 20 to 30 knots decreasing to 15 to 25 knots during the morning. Seas: Up to 3 metres decreasing to 2 metres later in the evening. Swell: Northeasterly 1.5 metres. Isolated thunderstorms inshore from midday, extending throughout in the afternoon and evening.
