Biffo at the Breaka

Naturally this topic is now being discussed on RealSurf’s forums

Sounds from this report on 9MSN as though a couple of tour pros will be sitting on the sidelines for awhile. Basically the story is that Sonny Garcia went the biff on a couple of surfers who’d got into a dispute with Mr Garcia’s son. Then, Mr Garcia is claimed to have attacked a guy who filmed the incident. Jeremy Flores was involved in the original dispute because, the story goes, he’d been surfing with Mr Garcia’s son. The story contains video of the incident so you can be the judge! The ASP has disqualified both surfers from the event.

from espn
Dane Jordan, ASP’s Australasia Tour Manager had this to say:

“Following a physical altercation today, Jeremy Flores has been disqualified from the event. The Association of Surfing Professionals does not condone any form of physical violence and we have strict rules in place for the conduct of any member both Jeremy and Sunny have also been referred to the ASP rules and disciplinary committee who will review the facts and make a decision if further action is required.”

Flores has never fallen into trouble with the ASP in the past. “The ASP took me out of the event because they think we shouldn’t do [sic] violence,” said Flores, “And I agree with that.”
