Fading to almost flat

Hello Friends,

Sorry about the delay this morning. Not missing much if you can’t get to the beach as the south swell has lost more power over night. It’s still around a metre at sea, but the average period is down to 8 seconds, and were it not for the occasional rogue 12 second set, it’d probably be getting close to flat. Tide’s low at around 1110, so this morning is the time to be chasing ’em I’d say.

Outlook is for a stretch of showery and southerly weather from tomorrow through the weekend. The Bureau says it’s a complex picture where the lows are concerned, but right now they say we should see the wind turn southerly by tomorrow afternoon. When that happens, the swell ought to come up a bit and the call is still for it to peak on Friday under showery skies and to the accompaniment of a 30kt southerly. Various of the swell prediction models are showing SE swell peaking on Friday into the 3 metre range. The period is forecast to be around 9-10 sec, so semi-protected spots should have something – albeit messy.

Have yourself a top old Wednesday!

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system over waters southeast of the state is expected to move slowly to the east-northeast on Thursday before moving away towards New Zealand during Friday. The exact position of the low remains uncertain, though strong southwest to southeasterly winds are likely to extend gradually northward along the coast Thursday and Friday.
