"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Stormy seas, but clearing skies?

Hello Friends,

So messy and torn up this morning that no one was in the water, even though there’s plenty of size. Wind was pushing along from the SE at 15-20 kts as Monday got started. The Bureau advises that it’ll move more to the east and decrease slightly toward evening. Swell was rumbling along at 3 metres from the SE, but with an 8-9 second period.

Not that it matters much, but tide was high at around 0650 and will hit low about 1245 pm.

So, not looking like much of a day for a wave, what with the extremely messy conditions and the run-off affected water.

Tomorrow

The Bureau says that the wind’ll be onshore overnight but it should be relatively light for the early tomorrow. It’s not a great sounding recipe; woofy water, high tide and light onshores. But there should be a couple metres of east swell, so there might possibly be something worth chasing.

Next few days

More wind and showers on Wednesday says the Bureau and a big high tide early, but the wind’ll be from the north and there could be 1-2 metres of east swell in the 9 second period range. Thursday is shaping to be smaller, from the east and winds are forecast to be NW’ly with light showers early.

And now for a brief commercial message…

Weather Situation

A low lies off the northern New South Wales coast and a high pressure system is over the southwestern Tasman Sea. This is resulting in strong to gale force winds along the northern coast. Winds are expected to gradually ease during today and tomorrow as the high extends a ridge to the far north coast and the low moves eastwards.
