Southerly with clouds and short sunny breaks

Hello Friends,

15-20 kts of S-SW wind pushing into Sydney this morning. Swell is out of the east according to the MHL buoy. Average size at sea is about a metre and average period is sitting on 8 seconds. There were a few bods in the beach and at the point when I checked at around 1000. But they were struggling to do much with the windblown and small junk. That said, people don’t usually get in the water unless there’s something, so I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt.

However, the Bureau tells us that the south wind will be up toward the 30 kt mark by lunch time. The weather forecast says we might get an afternoon shower or two along with it.

And speaking of a shower or two, it seems we’re in for another week of such weather. The long range outlook is for this to be a pretty common situation across much of coastal NSW for the next three months. Below is the Bureau’s prediction for the coming summer… hope you like grey skies and rain!

As for the next three days, it looks as though we’ll be in the grip of southerlies until mid-week. However, the Bureau reckons there should be up to 2 metres of east swell, so who knows… just maybe…

It’s Ocean Care Day in Manly, so if you’re down that way, wave hello to my Surfrider mates who are down there doing a bit of beach cleaning and such. I’m planning to head down for a sesh on the table this afternoon.

Go well one and all!
