Where’s the swell Huey

Caught one
Hello Friends,

It’s about 10kts from the ENE and swell is showing as a couple metres at about 9 seconds from the SSE. However, there wasn’t much showing at Dee Why around 0815 when I checked. A couple bods were on it, but the biggest thing I saw was the knee high dribbler in my picture. Surprisingly feeble given the swell data on the MHL buoy.

The Bureau has a large swell warning posted and their forecast model shows the energy levels bumping up this morning. Not sure about that because Eden’s period only bounced up to 11 seconds about 6 hours ago. And it generally takes half a day or so for such an increase to get up to Sydney. So, maybe it’ll pick up later, or maybe it’ll happen after dark…

Should be east to NE later today, so your first spot check should be the north corners.

Go well with your Thursday!

Weather Situation
A cold front over eastern and northern parts of the Tasman Sea links to a trough and weak low off the northern NSW coast. The trough and low will weaken further today as a high pressure centre develops off the southern NSW coast and moves east over the Tasman. Another trough and cold front over and south of WA will move steadily east today and approach the NSW far south coast late tomorrow, with winds strengthening over some coastal waters. This trough will bring a southerly change to southern and central waters during Saturday.
