"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Well whadya know, waves

Hello Friends,
Fair amount of energy in the ocean this morning with a mix of 2-3 metre ESE windswell and some remnant SE 12-14 sec stuff. Not much wind early and there were lots of sunny breaks at 0800 when I looked for the first time.

Crowds were plentiful of course, but not totally hideous. Surface conditions were pretty choppy and lumpy, but there were definitely a few moments of funness to be found in amongst it.

Wind was out of the north to NW as the day kicked off, but the Bureau says we’ll soon have 15-20 kts of NEr – hence the rugged surface conditions. So, I don’t expect it to be too surfable at the Dee Why end by late morning. Up into those north corners kids!

The models seem to be showing this scrappy stuff lasting in one form or another for 24-48 hours before energy levels slump away to not much from midweek on. The wildly speculative very long range models are projecting our next interesting pulse will turn up toward the middle of the month…

Somehow ten years have passed now. The magpie larks have been visiting us a lot these last few weeks and it still hurts when I remind myself of your words…

Stay happy and you’ll be perfectly fine.

Weather Situation
A high over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge of high pressure over the Southern Ocean to another high west of the Bight. Cradled between the two high centres is a trough of low pressure and associated upper level low over inland New South Wales. The trough is expected to move slowly east over the next day or so before moving off the coast later Monday. The northeasterly airstream ahead of the trough is expected to turn northwest to southwesterly behind the trough. The next high should then move into the state on Wednesday.
