Still heaps of swell

Hello Friends,

Not too many shooting opportunities this morning. Surface conditions were fine at Collaroy, but it was pretty fat and floppy on all but the best sets when I watched from around 0930-1000. Zillions of keen folk were in the water braving the bitterly cold wind and mostly grey skies in exchange for the odd shot at something in the head high plus range. There were a few overhead sets at the Kick, but it wasn’t really firing up too impressively.
Had a look at Brownwater as well, but the three people in the water weren’t having much luck chasing anything down.
Out at sea the swell was looking pretty wild and big, but it seems to be too straight south to do much.
Around at Dee Why you really needed to be keen. It was double overhead and then some on the biggest sets at the point, but picking your section was an art form. Failure to get it right meant copping a drubbing. And there were lots of unmakeable bombs too. Three or four folks were out when I checked around 1100 and though the big ones had lots of face, they suffered from fat sections and a fair amount of bump.
As of 1330 the wind was still SW and getting into the 30 knot range on gusts.
Swell was showing 5.2 metres(!) with 12 sec period from the south on the Sydney MHL data at noon. So it hasn’t quite peaked yet…
Here are a few snaps from this morning…
