Over the horizon: maybe a few little ones about early

Hello Friends,

Your correspondent has returned from the desert to the coast (of California that is) and is therefore back to net access. So, herewith an early morning wrap for Tuesday in Sydney…

The Bureau says 27 and sunny on the weather front with light and variable winds early, going around to the northern quarters by late morning and getting SW for the afternoon. Sydney MHL buoy is still broken, so our nearest functional buoy is down at Batemans Bay. It was showing 2 metres of straight south wind swell, so probably not much hope that Sydney south facing spots will be seeing anything too exciting. I reckon knee to waist plus at magnet spots would be doing well.

Tomorrow could see an improvement in the south swell, but if the Bureau has it right, best conditions are likely to be early because it’s due to go NE in the afternoon. The south swell – NE wind combo should continue into Thursday and again, best options will be for the morning sesh. Could be shoulder plus on sets at standout spots too.

Have yourself a great Tuesday one and all!

Weather Situation

A trough is expected to stall just north of the Queensland border today, while a high pressure system near the Bight extends a ridge into New South Wales. This high will be the dominant synoptic feature during the next few days, although a cold front will clip the far southeast of the state later today. During the second half of the week the high is expected to drift to the Tasman Sea, with generally light to moderate winds turning more northerly towards the weekend as the next trough approaches.
