Hello Friends,
Combination of a high tide at 0900 and a barely there NE wind bump means that everywhere in Sydney this morning will be too tiny to surf in any meaningful sense of the word.
While the nothin’ nowhere is our fate today in Sydney, there is a strong wind warning aloft for 20+ kts of NE’r this afternoon. With any luck it’ll hammer along into the night time hours, imparting energy to the ocean and just maybe, if we’re lucky, NE magnet spots will be showing little waist to waist plus things for the super early crowd.
Looking at the week ahead does not currently leave me brimming with holiday cheer I’d have to say. We’re not looking like having much of anything until Friday, at which point some of the models are pointing to another brief pulse of onshore but semi-surfable NE wind bump in the afternoon.
Make the most of your Monday one and all
Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will drift slowly east during the coming days, while maintaining a ridge towards the Queensland coast. This will generate north to northeasterly winds along most of the New South Wales coast, becoming fresh to strong over southern and central waters. A broad trough developing near the state’s western border is forecast to shift eastwards and bring a southerly change to the southern and central coasts mid-week before decaying. A cold front looks likely to bring a more vigorous southerly change at the end of the week.
Forecast for Monday until midnight
