Rainy morning

Hello Friends,

Steady rain this morning and light ESE winds made staying in bed look like the sensible strategy. The Sydney MHL buoy is still off the air, so the nearest active one is down at Port Kembla and it’s showing about 1.5 metres of 6-second period ENE wind chop. That means tiny, sloppy junk at even the best spots this morning. An incoming tide will reach high at 1250. Beachwatch has posted ‘pollution possible’ warnings for Newport and Bilgola. They also report that the water is up to 24.

Outlook is for energy levels to bump up tomorrow as we get a mix of south east and easterly wind swell. It could get into the shoulder plus range at exposed spots. The problem is that we’re also set to have southerlies with it, so options are likely to be limited. Tuesday morning might be more interesting as the two windswells continue and the forecast is for SW wind early.

Have a great Sunday!

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand is moving southeast maintaining a ridge towards New South Wales north coast, while a low pressure trough moves along the central coast. A southerly change associated with this trough will stall on the Mid North Coast Sunday morning, as a weak low centre develops off the coast. The low will weaken during Monday as another high moves over the southern Tasman Sea extending a ridge to the north coast and reinstating northerly winds. The next significant southerly change is expected to develop on Thursday.
