Holding pattern

Hello Friends,

27 degrees outside the RealSurf wheelhouse at 0900 under hazy skies. Wind just ticking over from the south to SSW. Only a faint south wind bump showing down at Dee Why. Looked to be ankle to knee high at best on the beach and unsurfable at the point.

Tide was high at 0710 and will be back to low at 1350.

Bureau says we can expect the south swell to pick up during the day. The Eden waverider buoy was showing 1.4 metres of SSW energy at 10 seconds apart as of 0600, but our nearest functioning buoy at Port Kembla is showing 1.5 metres from the south, but at only 7 seconds (basically chop).

Wind is expected to be SE at 15-20 kts by early afternoon, so I’m not overly hopeful about an improvement to surf prospects. Still, the water is beautifully warm now, so going for an onshore splash later for the exercise could be a plan of sorts.

Swell is supposed to pick up tomorrow and get into the 1.5-2.5 metre range. Unfortunately the SE’r will be whipping along at junk-making 15-25 kts. And, there’s an 80% chance of showers. Tuesday looks like being east early then picking up and swinging NE. So, again, not going flat but poor quality.

Longer range models don’t indicate much of anything for us really. But, on the other hand, it doesn’t look like fading to absolutely flat either. As long as you don’t mind onshores, there should be something somewhere.

Have a great Sunday everybody and keep on smilin’
