Rainy Friday with small waves

Hello Friends,

Sorry to run a bit late. Had some storm damage make itself known to me this morning and I couldn’t really leave it alone before doing the report. Saw beaches from Manly to Dee Why eventually and can report that although the ocean was relatively smooth, the waves were for the most part pretty marginal and almost no one was in the (very woofy looking) water. Manly had the odd waist plus at the Queenscliff end, Curly was bigger on average, but quite weak looking and around at Dee Why, the point was just barely do-able if you had a SUP or a longboard, while the beach was similar in size to Curly (maybe a bit smaller). It was raining steadily too.

At 0800 the MHL buoy was picking up a mix of ESE and south swell energy. It was 2 metres at sea at 11 seconds which I have to say is kind of weird given how weak the waves looked. What makes it odder still is that there’s a powerful surf warning (see below).

Next tide is a low at 1225.

The Goat’s given us his thoughts on the outlook and as usual I agree with his assessment. I’d add that I reckon Sunday morning is shaping to be the most interesting offering (if the wind isn’t too bad early) but the rest of the week looks as though it should offer us surf options too.

Have a good one!
