Showery Saturday start

Hello Friends,

Although the forecast is for SE 10-15 kts turning east later, we had light offshores as the day got started. At 0500 swell was out of the SSE at around the 1.6 metre mark with a typical period of 13 seconds. Skies were mostly cloudy and there were occasional showers.

I did my usual run-around ahead of the beaches ahead of this morning’s radio chat with Simon Marnie on the 702 ABC Weekend Show and I was stoked to see that contrary to my expectations, there were some waves to be had.

As the pics show, folks were in the water at Northy, but I couldn’t read the quality because, thanks to the swell angle, I was looking at them from behind. I’d guess lumpy and bumpy mostly shutting down but with the odd head high wave face.

Around the corner at Longy, it was definitely lumpy and kinda weird, but people were scoring head high faces on the bigger ones as they challenged their wave riding skills. Best spot of the morning goes to the No Man’s stretch where I watched a couple of meaty looking rights do their thing (see below). The point was producing, but not spectacularly so and there were people in the water from there to No Man’s.

So, get out quick because once the wind swings, the options will pretty much fade away.

Have a great Saturday and stay happy!
