75th Anniversary of the end of WW2

This weekend marks the 75th Anniversary of the end of WW 2 with Victory in the Pacific. Spare a moment on VP Day 15 August to refect on the sacrifices made between 1939 – the start of the war in Europe – and the end of the war in the Pacific with the unconditional surrender […]

Little bumps for the keen

Hello Friends, The models told us to expect near flatness this morning, but, happily there are still a few little bumps left for the super keen. Dee Why was in the ankle to knee and a bit range as of 0700. Swell at sea was a metre at 10 seconds from the SE. Wind was […]

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

The Goat’s Surf Forecast Surf forecast issued Thursday 13 August 2929: Seven day outlook for Sydney: Some Happy News! for those who are working from home, working three or four day weeks, not working, retired, going to school, uni, tafe etc. >>> Some lovely conditions coming up on some days… except when they’re not. That’s […]

Soft and knee to waist high early

Hello Friends, A beautiful, comparatively mild and nearly calm start to the day. Sadly the swell has run out of puff and while there are still some nice clean lines that look promising at first, they don’t really live up to the first impression. You’ll want your most bouyant surf tool for these conditions. Out […]

Waves for Wednesday morning

Hello Friends, After blustery conditions yesterday, the wind’s backed off this morning and the swell, while smaller, is still in the interesting range. Tide was low at 0755 and will be back to high at 1435. Wind is coming lightly from the north just before 0800 and the Bureau says it’ll pick up into the […]

Slab shots

Stopped by Surfrider Gardens to see what the swell was doing this morning. There were a few people out chasing some fairly heavy and brief waves. At that particular tide there was a particularly slabby bank working, so slabby that hardly anyone made it over the ledge and into the pit.

Manly going big

Sets looking impressive at North Steyne and Queenscliff this morning. You had to wait though. South Steyne was head and a bit as was the Bower.

Big this morning

Hello Friends, Chilly and cloudy but the wind backed off overnight so surface conditions were reasonably smooth. There might have been one or two in the water near the point this morning, but sets looked to be at the upper limit of surfable. Out for a closer look, for more pics and words later… Weather […]

Too stormy

Hello Friends, An easy day to give it a pass. Grey skies, gale force wind and heaving seas are not a recipe for fun. Tomorrow morning’s not looking any better, but maybe by late afternoon the wind will have backed off enough for the keen. Energy levels are predicted to tail off pretty quickly, so […]
