Grey, tiny and drizzly Wednesday morning

Hello Friends,

Misting and low grey skies before 0800 this morning. There were weak, very small waves around thanks to some 6-second wind bump from the E-NE. Better exposures are seeing the odd waist to chest high moments, but mostly it’s gutless and knee high or less. Wind was 9-15kts from the SW at 0700, but the forecast is calling for southerly at 15-25 kts.  There’s an 80% chance of showers too. First tide of the daylight hours is a 1.9m high at 1215.

So, not much of a surf day so far.

The more hopeful swell models were showing a gradual increase in swell intensity, starting with a slight lift from the SE late Thursday and potentially being in the 2m, 10 second range from the south on Friday. By Saturday it could be in the 3 metre range with side to offshore wind.

Weather Situation

A southerly change moving north along the central coast this morning is likely to stall on the Mid North Coast tonight. A low pressure system then looks likely to form somewhere along the southern or central coast during Thursday, driving strong south to southeasterly winds to the south of its centre and north to northeasterly winds to its north. The low may then persist over the Tasman Sea for several days, maintaining a general southeasterly flow along the coast.
