Partly sunny, glassy and small

Hello Friends,

A pretty, glassy morning along the beaches with a few soft little waves appearing at the better exposures. Size was in the waist high range on sets. Swell at sea was a metre from 136° (SE) at 8 seconds apart. As of 0930, wind was a 5-6 kt westerly and tide was dropping to the 0.64 m low at 1355. It was chilly early, but we should see a high of 19C later.

We can expect a return to showery conditions tomorrow and Friday.

Swell looks like burbling along in the marginal range through Friday with maybe a few slightly bigger ones Saturday. The models are showing a brief E-ESE 3m+ pulse from around midday Sunday through to Monday. There could be a few fun ones in the morning Sunday before the swell really starts to build. But once it does, the outlook is for strong wind overnight and into Monday. As always, it’ll be interesting to see what the Goat has to say tomorrow…

Stay safe everyone. Covid’s everywhere and not going away, so yours truly is still masking with an N95 when I’m inside.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system is currently drifting across southeast Australia, and will move to the Tasman Sea today. A new high is forecast to strengthen south of the Bight from Thursday then extend a ridge across the southern Tasman Sea. This pattern looks set to deliver a southerly change to the New South Wales coast later Thursday and Friday. There is potential for strong winds to linger in some areas through the weekend, depending on the evolution of a trough in the region, with current computer models quite varied in their prognoses.
