Waves on Monday morning

Hello Friends,

Solid east swell lighting up magnets like the Manly stretch. Sets were into the head plus range and looking pretty frequent there when I grabbed the pictures at around 0845. Wind was a light westerly and skies were mostly clear. Swell at sea was 1.75 m from the east at 13 seconds apart. Water’s on 19C and most places are clean. Tide hit high at 0605 and will be back to low at 1130. Wind is expected to remain light today. The Bureau’s posted a warning for large and powerful surf conditions, so this is not a great day for beginners or even tentative intermediates.

The showery stuff returns tomorrow but the wind looks like being out of the westerly quarters and although the swell’s expected to dial back a bit, there should still be enough energy to keep things interesting. The models show the energy levels declining slowly but steadily across the work week and becoming small to tiny by the weekend. So, not a bad outlook, really.

Have yourself a great Monday and mask up around others.

(3149 people got infected in our LGA in the last week and new cases are popping up at a rate of 450 or so a day. )

Weather Situation

A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge into New South Wales, while a low pressure system moves away from Australia across the Tasman Sea. This ridge will become the dominant feature from today, promoting generally lighter winds over the water, although a significant swell will linger. A cold front is forecast to bring a gusty westerly change to coastal New South Wales during Tuesday, with a second cold front set to arrive near the end of the week.
