On the fade but not gone yet

Hello Friends,

An overcast start for Sunday morning along the beaches. There was a faint north breeze lightly texturing the ocean and surfers were chasing waist to chest high sets along the beach at Dee Why. Offshore the SE swell was 1.8 metres at 9 seconds apart as of 0900. According to the Bureau it should very gradually fade back to around a metre by the end of the day. First tide of the daylight hours is a 1.3 metre high at 1000. We should see a high of 17C with a partly cloudy day.  Beachwatch is reporting clean water most everywhere with a temp of 18C.

The swell prospects haven’t changed much overnight – which is to say that it’s basically looking flat to near flat until Thursday-ish when we might see feeble knee to waist high stuff make an appearance. There seems to be some hope for a brief straight south pulse around Sunday afternoon, lasting into Monday morning. But that’s pretty far in the future, so your mileage may vary.

Have a great Sunday and take the mask for when you go to the shops etc because over (at least) 3000 of your fellow Northern Beaches citizens became COVID positive in the last week.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system just east of NSW will continue to drift east over the Tasman Sea on Sunday with most coastal areas seeing northerly winds. A cold front will bring a westerly change to southern and central parts during Monday, before stalling and decaying over the north. Another, more powerful, cold front looks set to affect the region during the second half of the week, likely bringing an extended period of vigorous winds.
