Gloomy start to Sunday but scrappy little waves

Hello Friends,

Sunday early risers woke to low overcast skies and a light but steady NE breeze. Swell at sea was NE at 1.7 metres at 6 seconds apart. There’s still a bit of long period, but quite small SE swell still lingering from yesterday. Conditions at Dee Why were looking scrappy and disorganised, but if you were in the right spot at the right moment, it was possible to jag a shoulder high wave at take off. Not the greatest quality, but at least there’s sort of something to get you in the water for a go. First tide of the day is a low of 0.7 m at 0940.

The cloud should break up a bit in the middle part of the day, but the Bureau says there’s a 70% chance of showers by this afternoon and tomorrow promises to be rainy with possible falls in the 10-40 mm. Plus it’ll be windy from the N-NE. So, probably not too interesting for surfers.

Beyond that it looks like Tuesday will be not great, but Wednesday morning might turn out to be reasonable.

Have a great Sunday one and all!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the New South Wales coast, directing northeasterly winds over coastal areas. A trough will bring a weak southerly change to the southern coast today, continuing to central parts during Monday where it is likely to linger through the middle part of the week. A low pressure system may develop within this trough over central waters on Tuesday and then move away to the southeast and decay.
