The Goat’s Surf Forecast

SURF FORECAST ISSUED FRIDAY 11 JUNE 2010:   SEVEN DAY OUTLOOK FOR SYDNEY.

Easing back a little today… before coming up again!…then going down again…  Cool weather though and Southerly type winds so expect a wind chill factor…and the water temp is gradually dropping.

Saturn’s day: about 2 metres South East coming up.

The Sun’s day: about 2 metres possibly more South East.

The Moon’s Monday: about 2 metres dead South spots, smaller elsewhere.

Tuesday (I forget who that one’s for): in the 1-2 metre range dead South.

Woden’s day : about 1 metre dead South.

Thors’ day: about 1 metre from the North.

Frieda’s  day: ditto

– Water temp’s around 19 -20.

– The skipper of the Manly Fast Ferry tells me there’s heaps of whales outside – about 2 miles out – headed north.

– Not many boats fishing on the harbour this week so I guess not many fish about.

– Always satisfying to me to see tourists looking at the plaque on Circular Quay East  opposite The Toaster that commemorates the ship departure point of the NSW Contingent to the War in the Sudan March 1885 (to keep Australia’s vital shipping lanes to Europe open)… The first Australian volunteer troops to go overseas…including my Sydney born great grandfather …  125 years ago this year.  Check it out sometime.

Have a happy long weekend.
