The Goat’s Surf Forecast
Posted by: goat on August 9th, 2012Surf forecast issued Thursday 9 August 2012: Seven day outlook for Sydney:
Well I think today looks pretty much spot on from last week’s forecast (3 Aug)… “Thursday: gone back down to not a lot.”…
So I wonder what’s in store now ???… Well I can tell you
or at least give you my best estimate….
Friday: comin’ up from the South – say in the 1-2 metre range at places that like dead South type swell… quite a bit less at other places (like say the Queensie end will be bigger than the Manly end of the beach… not round the front off the rocks of course) The Bureau says: “Dangerous surf conditions, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing, are expected”…check its site for updates too… www.bom.gov.au
Saturday: free for all… 2-3 metres South East (ditto re BoM)
Sunday: could be even bigger
Monday: easing back a bit
Tuesday: back to 1-2 metres South East
Wednesday: about 1 metre or so East South East… so probably a bit bigger rather than smaller
Thursday: … “gone back down to not a lot.” !
How’s that for an example of the cyclical aspect of weather – wind and waves – circling and swirling round our cyclically shaped global planet…
I wonder what the weather would be like if the Earth was a cube shape instead of round??… Maybe scientific types can tell us why it’s not a cube… ![]()
Water temp is around 18-19.
