Stormy, scrapy south swell

Floppy peak

Not quite...

Hello Friends,

Yesterday’s rain and bleak conditions lightened up in the late afternoon and this morning sees it sunny and offshore with a fresh SW wind and around 4 metres of raw and fairly messy south swell with a healthy average period of close to 11 seconds. Swell is peaking this morning as the tide heads toward low at about 1020.

The wind is set to be strong all day, so it’ll be interesting to see if it cleans the swell up for us. Right now though it’s not too wonderful looking at Dee Why thanks to the rough seas of the last 14 hours.

After posting the foregoing, I had a look at the Collaroy-Narrabeen stretch. Swell is just wrong for the north end, but there are definitely a few possibilities at Collaroy. Swell is looking a lot cleaner than the heaving stuff at Dee Why.

Outlook is for the swell to steadily decline from this morning’s peak but on current reckoning it looks as though we should get surf of some sort for the remainder of the week.

Here are a few more snaps from Collaroy…

Have a great Monday one and all!
