Sunny little Sunday morning at Dee Why

Messable around in

Hello Friends,

Not a whole lot going on at the beach this morning, but if you’re keen, it should be possible to find something to catch. Set wave faces at 0800 were struggling to make the waist high mark. The MHL buoy is showing 1.3 metres of 8s period SE swell, so there should be waves at a few places. Wind was light and from the SSW as the day got rolling. However, it’s supposed to swing southerly and to build into the 15-20 kt range.

Tide was low at 0555 and will be high at 1210.

Although the swell situation isn’t likely to change too much today, by tomorrow midday it should be distinctly bigger and then it appears we’re in for potentially interesting SE swell conditions through (maybe!) to Thursday. Wednesday is looking quite interesting in today’s forecast data. We could be looking at 3-4 metres of south swell with sunny skies and offshores. My camera gear’ll be ready to go!

Have yourself a great Sunday and if you’re near the radio later this morning around 1015, tune to ABC 702 because yours truly will be on the air with Dr Rob Brander and Simon Marnie to talk beaches and sea level rise.

Weather Situation
A trough linked to a low near Tasmania extends over the northeast parts of the state with generally light winds tending northeasterly in the north and southeasterly for the remainder of the New South Wales coast. As the low and associated trough move further east the southerly airstream will become established along most of the coast and strengthen from the south by the start of the new week. Behind the trough a weak high pressure ridge is expected to develop gradually with southerlies easing by Wednesday.
