Marginal at DY maybe better elsewhere

Hello Friends,

Light NW breeze and a tiny, soft NE wind swell not amounting to much at Dee Why this morning. Only a solitary SUPster getting some exercise at Dee Why beach when I checked around 0800. As with the last few days, you’re better off looking at spots that take the NE more directly. Spots like Curly, Manly, Northy etc should have some knee to waist dribblers for the keen.

Outlook is for the wind to be out of the east early but going NE later and getting into the 20 kt range. The forecast is still telling us that we’ll move into southerly conditions from tomorrow. That should see the swell heights ramp up, but there’s going to be a heap of wind (and rain) with it from Thursday afternoon through Saturday at least.

It could get pretty big on Friday if the models have it right, so maybe there’ll be something worthy in the protected corners, but my hopes are pinned on early next week when I hope we have better wind conditions and some leftover SE energy to play with.

Go well with your Wednesday!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system to the south of Tasmania extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast. Winds will shift more northerly today as the high drifts eastwards, with a broad trough remaining over inland New South Wales. This trough is expected to deepen during Thursday in response to an approaching upper-level system, likely leading to the development of a low centre offshore as the coastal ridge weakens. By week’s end the trough is forecast to shift to the north while the next high strengthens over Tasmania, generating a fairly brisk onshore flow along most of the New South Wales coast.
