Hot and tiny

Hello Friends,

Barely any energy in the ocean for Boxing Day morning. But that wasn’t deterring a keen crew on the tiniest of tiny gutless peaks just up the beach from the club at Dee Why. Beautiful sunny start with the temp already headed toward the 30 mark up at RealSurf’s wheelhouse high atop Collaroy Plateau. Wind was light from the SW but the Bureau says it’s going southerly soon and then gradually coming around to the SE toward dark.

The MHL specral chart’s not working, but the numbers indicate a touch under a metre of NNE wind swell at 8 seconds apart. Next tide is a high at 1210.

A south swell is on the cards for later according to the Bureau and it should stick around for tomorrow’s early. The problem will be the wind which is predicted to still be going from the SE. So maybe in the corners if we’re lucky.

The hope for a reasonable session on Monday now seems to have faded from the models’ predictions. Instead it currently appears to be shaping up to be another quiet week surfwise in Sydney. Maybe up the coast would be a little better…

Have yourself a fine old Boxing Day everyone!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the Queensland coast, while a trough and cold front are combining to bring a southerly change to the south coast this morning, which is expected to intensify and push northwards during the day, reaching central parts around midday and the far north coast at night. Conditions should ease rapidly in most areas during Saturday as the front moves away and a weak high pressure ridge develops across the south.
