Update: extra piccies

Hello Friends,

The first wave I set eyes on this morning was a glassy chest high thing winding unridden along Dee Why point. The MHL buoy was picking up a metre of 14-second SE swell, so as that single wave set proves, there will be the very occasional worthy one in what are generally small and marginal conditions.

Wind should be light this morning before gradually becoming a NE sea breeze later.

Next tide is a high at 1240.

Wind is set to be more of a factor for tomorrow and Friday. Swell is expected to be puny again tomorrow and then to come up a little on Friday, but it’s shaping to just be wind bump with a very short period.

Things are brewing up in the Coral Sea though and this morning’s models are pointing at a quick and dramatic ramp up in average period late Sunday arvo. Some are projecting initial periods of 18 seconds. Although the average height at sea is projected to be an unspectacular 1.5 metres or so, such long periods can deliver wave faces that are solidly overhead. Again, if the models have picked it, on Monday the high energy stuff could be matched with light winds and sunny skies for the early.

And, the pulse could last for 2-3 days!

So, on that hopeful note, allow me to wish you a top old day!
