Just about flat folks

Hello Friends,

Sunny and only a light breeze for the early this morning. But there’s a little problem – we have almost no swell energy. What we have is less than a metre of 5-sec east wind chop. And that means that about the best you can expect is the odd gutless knee high set. Mostly though, it’s smaller than that and where both Dee Why and the Collaroy-Narrabeen stretches, there were hardly any peaks. Tide’s dropping to a low at 0915.

Wind is going to pick up soon. It’ll be out of the north at first, but by lunch time it should be NE and getting into the 20-25 kt range. If you’re a connoisseur of onshore conditions, there could be the odd waist plus wave face at the most blown out spots this afternoon. Water temp will probably cog down a notch as a result of the wind, so we sensitive types will want a springy.

The NE’r is set to maintain overnight and that could mean a little more energy at surfable spots. Again, I’m not expecting anything special, but I don’t think shoulder plus faces (with the wind on top of them) are beyond the realms of possibility.

Christmas Eve to Boxing Day currently looks like being windy and onshore from the east around to the NE. Quality won’t be much, but it shouldn’t be quite as dire as this morning in terms of wave size. With any luck there’ll be some scrappy, wind blown waist to chest plus stuff at magnet banks.

Gonna be a hot one today, so stay chill and have a good one!
