Under the low in Sydney

Hello Friends,

Low visibility and more or less continuous rain overnight in Sydney. Wind was 20-25 kts from the SSE at 0730. Not surprisingly, water quality is pretty bad too. Beachwatch is showing “pollution likely” at pretty much everywhere from Palmie to the Bower. And yesterday afternoon, I received a text from Sydney Water that there was a bypass event at Warriewood.
So, pretty obviously not a morning – or day – for surfing in Sydney.
As you can see from the forecast info below, these woeful conditions are likely to persist through tomorrow and into Friday.
We could be waiting until the weekend for conditions to improve enough to be attractive to the average surfer…
Oh well, stay dry and keep on smilin’!

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is moving slowly east, while a low pressure system is slow moving near Port Stephens. This pattern is directing southeasterly winds over southern and central waters, strong to gale-force over central waters. The low is expected to move slowly to the northeast during Wednesday with strong to gale-force winds extending to the northern coast. Strong southerly winds will linger in most areas during Thursday as the low moves slowly across the central Tasman Sea, before an easing on Friday as a ridge develops along the New South Wales coast.
