The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 18 February 2016: Seven day outlook for Sydney:

On a day when you have a warning from the BoM for large powerful surf, and a warning today from Don, and a week’s advance notice from TG, and you can see with your eyes how big the sets are, with only young, fit experienced riders out… what does One do???… Well One who says he “hasn’t been to this beach before”, is clearly not in top shape and not a pro surfer… tries to paddle out from the beach at the southern end (“because going in off the rocks looked a bit sketchy”), does not succeed in making it out through one line of break before getting washed along with the rip for the entire length of the (closed) beach, with ever increasing speed as the rip takes a sharp turn heading way out beyond the headland. Fortunately this One has a sensible change of heart as exhaustion sets in, eyeing nothing and no one between him, towering sets out the back, and New Zealand… and catches a lucky wash back in to shore against the express rip… Seemingly oblivious to how it might have turned out… even if he had made it out, there was still the long tiring paddle back along the beach to the take off, and way-overhead waves which were patently not matched to his skill set.  As Clint once said: “A man’s got to know his limitations.”

So with that in mind:

There’ ll be a variety of size and sizes/directions through the weekend/coming week… so listen to advice from Clint, the BoM, Don, and TG>>>

Friday: down from today but still around 2 metres South East, with sets with oomph

Saturday-Monday: 1-2 metre  range with some oomphyiness at times

Tuesday:1-2 metre 2+ metre range East, with some long distance energy packed pulse mixed in from TC Winston 3500 kimometres away by then (earlier up in Qld)

Wednesday-Friday: mainly up and down around 2 metres, with some oomph (technical term) at times.
