Did the usual run to Manly this morning and on the way back I grabbed some pics to share. While there wasn’t anything at the south end, at long intervals shoulder high sets would turn up for the crew braving the cold offshore conditions at 0830 at Queenscliff.
North Curly had a crew of a dozen or so chasing similar size set waves, but the shutdown fraction was pretty high and it seemed as well that despite the low tide, the shoulders often fatted out relatively quickly. Even so, it was almost as good as Queenscliff.
Dee Why was pretty woeful. I watched for awhile, but didn’t end up taking any pictures. The beachy was affected by a deep gutter and sets were considerably smaller than the better exposed beaches. There were a few bods at the point too, but it involved lots of waiting for nothing much above waist high.
South Narrabeen was a bit bigger than Dee Why and although it looked stunning when waves approached, I didn’t see anyone get a ride for more that 3 or 4 seconds. The shutdown ratio was ridiculous.
Although I didn’t drive up for a closer look, it seems that there were waves to be had at Northy, although I only say people on waist to maybe barely chest high ones. And they seemed to pretty brief as well.
