Hello Friends,

Swell has faded to almost nothing this morning and a steady NW wind wasn’t helping either. At 0400 the MHL buoy was detecting less than a metre of 6-sec SE wind bump and that means very weak and very small at even the best spots. The biggest waves I saw at 0630 were at a single peak up at Northy (about knee and a bit) and near No Mans (similar gutless tininess). Tide was low at 0555 and is currently heading into the high at 1220.
The Bureau has a gale warning posted for 20-35 kts of SW later this morning. Once that wind arrives he swell should bump up gradually. According to the models, the average period should go up into the 10-12 second range as the swell comes up from the south. However, I’m not expecting to see much until tomorrow and then only at south magnets.
Right now it looks as though tomorrow’s going to be about as good as it gets for the coming week, although at least one model is showing some prospect of a little bump midweek. Otherwise it’s shaping to be typical spring conditions.
Have yourself a top old Saturday!

Weather Situation
Winds will tend north to northeasterly as a high pressure system over the region slowly drifts east. A cold front is currently moving along the southern coast, with an associated southerly change expected to reach the north coast by this evening. A high pressure ridge will develop over New South Wales in the wake of the front, bringing a return to northeasterly winds later on Sunday. A second southerly change is expected to reach the far south coast on Monday evening.
