Knee to waist high bumps at Dee Why early

Not super crowded for a sunny Sunday early sesh at Dee Why

Hello Friends,

At 0730 wind was out of the NNE at 5-7 kts and the 0500 data from Sydney’s MHL waverider buoy was showing 1.25 metres of 7-sec east wind bump. Tide was heading toward the low at 1135 (it’ll be high again at 1730). There were a reasonable number of people in the water at Dee Why but, if anything, it looked a bit lighter crowd-wise than you’d usually see on a sunny Sunday morning. Waves were in the knee to waist range and breaking pretty close to the beach.
A quick scan of the forecast models suggests that we’re probably stuck in this pattern of small, short period wind junk for another week or so. Yesterday it looked like there might be something in the way of a south pulse late in the week, but this morning’s projections mostly aren’t showing much. That said, the Bureau’s Auswave model is predicting a major system in the might just ahead of the weekend and some of the long range models seem to be indicating that we could see something on the east coast from it briefly around Sun-Mon.
Have yourself a great Sunday everyone!
